Andrejs Hramcovs is an accomplished filmmaker, journalist, television producer, and director with more than 20 years of experience in documentary filmmaking, investigative journalism, and broadcast television. Throughout his career, he has combined compelling storytelling with in-depth reporting to produce documentaries and television programs that inform, educate, and inspire audiences.
Andrejs began his career as a journalist with TV5 Riga, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become Head of the News Department and later Program Director. Over the years, he created, directed, and hosted numerous successful television programs, including Crime+, Medline, AutoNews, Latvians at the Dakar Rally, Emergency Incident TV, and many other productions broadcast on leading Latvian television networks, including TV5 Riga and LNT.
In 2014, Andrejs participated in professional development programs in the United States, including advanced television production training at ABC News and a journalism seminar at The Washington Post. During his career, he has filmed and directed productions throughout most of the countries of the European Union, covering a wide range of historical, political, and human-interest stories.
As the writer and director of Baltic Truth, Andrejs helped bring international attention to one of the least understood chapters of Holocaust history—the destruction of Jewish communities in the Baltic States and the continuing struggle against historical distortion and denial. The documentary received international recognition and introduced audiences around the world to an often-overlooked chapter of history.
He continues that mission as the screen writer and director of Ashes of Identity.
